Love & Marriage 167 - Family Part 5 - 5 MAJOR PARENTING RESPONSIBILITIES nr 2

in #christian-trail6 years ago

There are at least 5 Major Parenting Responsibilities which are:

  • Know your children
  • Love your children
  • Teach your children
  • Discipline your children
  • Protect your children

The previous post I wrote about: Know your children

So next is:

Love your Children

Every child needs to be loved. Tell them how much you love them. Compliment them and encourage them. They need to hear your words to build them up because there is so much in life that can tear them down. Parents hold more influence than anything else in the healthy development of children. A child might know he or she is loved but still needs to hear it regularly. I am not in favor of just casually saying the words, I love you. That is three words that mean so much. It must not become just a phrase like goodbye have a nice day. So tell your child what it means when you say that you love them.

This phrase I love you should be proven by your actions. Do you say I love you but don't look up from your phone when your child want to ask you something? Don't say I love you but you are always working and don't spend much time with your child. Actions speak louder than words. With I love you give a hug, hold them close, do special things for them.

Some things you can do to act out I love you.

  • Hug every morning
  • Be patient
  • Hang their art and rewards on the refrigerator or walls
  • Go to zoos, parades and amusement parks
  • Create family traditions
  • Eat meals together
  • Compliments them
  • Encourage them
  • Appreciate them
  • Reward good behaviour
  • Play with them
  • Pray with them and for them
  • Know when to be gentle and when to be firm
  • Talk everyday, while driving to school, during mealtimes, at bedtimes. On every possible occasion communicate with your children.

My stepdaughter Carin, with our precious little Hailey which turned 7 yesterday!

  • Help with their schoolwork.
  • Accept imperfections
  • Be consistent
  • Build memories
  • Don't yell
  • Make birthdays unforgetable
  • Keep promises
  • Apologise when grumpy
  • When you say I love you give a kiss and look into their eyes.

Thank you for reading, Next post: Teach your children!

Well said MA. been a parent does not end there but you have to be your child best friend. About parents responsibilities i think parents should also bring up their child in the fear of God.

Yes, all these points are really vital, and children are really sensitive so it's difficult to manage all aspects but in addition of love in every aspect we can give them great life with great teachings, but, in my opinion parents need patience because sometimes it's really difficult to implement their control because, life is an exploration itself so sometimes patience is important. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
