Today's study deal with the last of 5 attributes that describe the ESSENCE OF GOD

GOD IS ETERNAL

Key verse: Psalm 90:2
"Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."

Meaning: God is now, always has been and will be forever. He has no beginning and no end.

Explanation:

• God is uncaused first cause of all things.

1 Tim 6:16 "who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen."

Isaiah 41:4 "Who has performed and done it,
Calling the generations from the beginning?
‘I, the Lord, am the first;
And with the last I am He.’”

Hebrews 11:3 "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible."

• God is self-existing.

Exodus 3:14
"And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

John 1:12-13 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

• God is Independant

Isaiah 40:13-14
"Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,
Or as His counselor has taught Him?
14 With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him,
And taught Him in the path of justice?
Who taught Him knowledge,
And showed Him the way of understanding?"

Acts 17:24-28 “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. 26 And He has made from one blood[c] every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’"

• God is not limited with time.
  Psalm 90:1-4
  "Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
  2 Before the mountains were brought forth,
  Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
  Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
  3 You turn man to destruction,
  And say, “Return, O children of men.”
  4 For a thousand years in Your sight
  Are like yesterday when it is past,
  And like a watch in the night."

• God can be depended on

Psalm 145:4 4 "One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts."
