A Worthy Father
Brethren, I welcome us yet again to another special Sunday in the month of June. The month of June has been a whole lot of celebrations for me and my household. Just few days ago, on Wednesday to be precise, I traveled home again to celebrate with my mother on her birthday. Today is Fathers' Day as it is being celebrated all over the world. A day set aside to celebrate great and responsible fathers at home and everywhere.
Based on the reason for the celebration of today, I will be writing on the title: A worthy Father
Who is a worthy father
1. A worthy father provides for the children's need. One who fails to do so is worse than an infidel.
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
1 Timothy 5:8
2. A worthy father always sets a good example before his children.
He recognizes that his children learn most of their lives lessons by observing his/her parents and how the parents live. What does a father teach his children when he neglects his duty to care for his children?
Remember the days of the old; consider the generation long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.
Deuteronomy 32:7
3. A worthy father disciplines his children in a proper manner..
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him.
Proverbs 22:15
Discipline needs to be a part of every child's education.
The rod of reproof gives wisdom; but a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
Proverbs 29:15
_ He that spareth his rod hateth his son, but he that loveth him chastens him often._
Proverbs 13:24
A worthy father do not deny his children of the discipline they need.
4 A worthy father is a man that knows God.
He knows and fear the God of heaven. He is that man that lead his family to the place of prayer.
**_Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Mark 1:35
5 A worthy father is a good leader.
He knows the way , goes the way and shows the way. He is a man of the the word of God. A man of integrity and honesty. His words are his bounds. He knows how to correct in love and forgives in advance.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
