GOD OF PROVIDENCE

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. GENESIS 50: 20

God is the loving father who cares for what he has made. This continual care for his creation and his people is what is called providence.

That we are very conversant with this concept is expressed in one of the songs we sing, He has the whole world in his hands....

This biblical revelation is not an abstract doctrine, but one that concerns our everyday living in this evil world.

Joseph suffered much affliction because of the jealousy and cruelty of his brothers.

In Egypt where he was sold, he was unjustly charged with immorality and was thrown into prison.

Josephs testimony shows that God was working through the sins of his brothers in order to preserve life.

It should be noted that the process was not funny for Joseph but at the end he had reasons to thank God.

Gods providence therefore is a profound comfort in the face of those difficulties and sorrows which are in no way as a result of our sins or wickedness which he allows.

He will surely bring us to the expected end no matter how tough the process may be.

Dear LORD, help me to know that the hands which hold my life are the same hands which hold all things. And because you are in charge, I will finish strong.
