Even the kings is under God's supremacy.
Lets reflect from the book Daniel 5: 1-2
It has often been said that history repeats itself. How ironic that Nebuchadnezzars successor, though he knew about all that happened to Nebuchadnezzar his great predecessor, yet he persisted in foolishness.
On this occasion he organized an idolatrous feast and was not content to drink wine from all the rich array of goblets at his disposal but chose to drink from the cup of the great king himself.
His foolishness and self deception could not be more obvious. The king would drink with the cup of the great and holy God and praise his idols, and even his concubines joined in making revelry with Gods holy vessels.
As they were feasting, a human hand appeared and wrote on the wall. Suddenly the once self confident but foolish king became afraid.
The kings colour changed, his limbs gave way, his knees knocked together and his thoughts were alarmed. So Belshazzar was human after all!
His empty promises notwithstanding, no one could interpret his dream. God gave him a divine puzzle to solve, a coded message.
Let us not forget a lesson which we have repeated severally; God is King, a holy God and we cannot make jest of him, neither compare his with idols nor associate him with immorality. Belshazzar learnt the hard way.
