Walking In One Accord

Acts 4:32-37

Word for Today:
There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. v34.

To be in one accord does not mean to be mindless robots without a mind of our own. But just as the drums may not give a nice rhythmic sound on its own or the keyboard or trumpet on their own unless combined together at controlled pitch. So is walking in one accord, where all members matter as they contribute to the success of the whole body of Christ.

As the number of members increased, they were still of one heart and one soul with no one lacking among them.
This means they knew each other beyond their first names, beyond daily gatherings at worship places. It means believer A knows believer C so well that he knows when his salt is about to finish. The rich and the poor pooled their resources together for common sharing.

As believers, we ought to learn a lesson from the early church and know our fellowship members, church members, colleagues at work or friends beyond face value. Only through this can we be of help to those that are in dire need among us, since most needs are not spelt out on the face.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to care for my brother and sister in the faith. Amen.
