Radio Masses For Now Due To COVID-19

Today, the Archdiocese of Davao suspended all church activities due to the COVID-19. This will include regular Sunday and daily masses, baptisms and confirmations, weddings and funeral masses. Other church activities which will entail crowd gatherings are also suspended. This will include the various district chapels' observance of fiesta masses, district masses and all formation and bible studies. This will continue indefinitely until announced otherwise, which I guess will be some time when the COVID-19 threat abates or is eliminated.

The faithful are advised to tune in to the Archdiocese's radio station which airs the Holy Mass everyday in lieu of physically attending these massses. Confessions are also case to case and the Archdiocese may have to resort to mass absolution instead of personal.

I think this was a very difficult and heavy decision to make but in consideration of the general health of not only the faithful but the whole citizenry I believe they did not have a choice in the matter. As of now, Davao City has zero positive cases of COVID-19. The intention is to make it stay that way.

I just look at this situation as a wake up call for most of us to develop and further strengthen our spiritual health, and not only our physical health. In this world where the norm now is all about personal satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness the spiritual well-being is compromised.
Let us be reminded to nourish our souls as well and to always remember that first and foremost we must all strive to do what makes God happy before making ourselves happy. When we satisfy God and find enjoyment in doing His will, then our personal happiness will follow beyond our imagination. For in doing what God wants is what will make us holy, and happy. Not the other way around.
