On Suffering

Allow me to share this photo caption I saw in my FB page.

Most of us often wonder why there is so much suffering in this world. We tend to question God why He allows these sufferings to happen. He even sent His only Son, Jesus, into this world to suffer and die for us. Apparently, suffering plays an important role in God's plan of salvation. It is just difficult to comprehend what this is especially when the ones undergoing the pain and misery are those close to us, or even ourselves. Financial hardship, sickness, loss of a loved one, broken marriages, and so much more - I have always asked myself what is the point of all these suffering and why there should be anguish and agony in this beautiful world that God created.

The photo caption above hopefully can provide an answer to this. God allows us to suffer so we can heal and not suffer death. Not the physical form of dying but the spiritual form which is being damned to the eternal flames of hell.

They say that through any kind of hardship, Jesus is with us, holding us, embracing us and never leaving us. Remember the song "Footprints in the Sand?" At the last part when it was asked why there was only one set of footprints left and Jesus said, "It is then that I carried you."

God does not intend for us to suffer just because He wants to. He wants so badly that we share with Him eternal life in His kingdom that He heals us spiritually, through suffering. This is His mercy. His divine Mercy. Because He does not want to exact His justice on our sins and gives us all the opportunity to change until our very last breath in this world.

Therefore, embrace suffering as a necessary part of our redemption. Be thankful for this because it shows that God loves and cares for us so much. Offer these sufferings up for the salvation of others, or for the upliftment of your relatives and friends. Pray for healing.
