Greetings fellow Steemians.

Please join us as we read a chapter of the Bible each day. All are welcome here. Feel free to comment, share your thoughts or ask questions about this chapter. We are currently reading the book of Psalms.

Psalm 83 King James Version (KJV)

1Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.

17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.

Amen.. Thank you Lord

O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

Amen! That will be the portion of our adversaries in Jesus name.
Glory be to God.

Each character of the Bible produces love for God in mind.

Hallelujah

Awesome scriptures

"Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God." - I see another post that is asking how it's all working out...
I think in many ways this verse reminds us how it will ultimately work out. God is not still, nor silent, nor passive in the face of our inhumanity. God's answer seems to be ultimately "forgive them father, for they do not know what they are doing" and that includes the descendants of these self-same "old guys" as it thankfully applies to us today. We often don't know the fullest extent of just how destructive we are one to another. But to my mind, we sure are good at laying waste to those around us and for that i often find myself thankful for the God who is alive, and active, and who speaks. Peace all @genxrev

Thanks for sharing today's scripture..

God bless you

That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.

indeed, our God is the most high

Amen

a bunch of old guys didn't like another group of old guys. Somebody in the first group made up a story that gave them the idea they should get rid of the second group......look at the world as it is now and tell me how did this all work out?

Blaming the world's problems on the Bible? I think rather, if the world followed it's teachings it would be a whole lot better place.

No it IS a better place despite the nonsense put on paper by people seeking "power" over others.
Blame for problems like kid fucking lie squarely on the heads of the people doing it not the words in their books.

Anyone who practices these kinds of behavior is not following the teachings of the Bible, correct it's on them not the life promoting Biblical teachings.

Better check what you are doing then......user......all the way down the rabit hole christians are hippocrates to the end.

No doubt some who claim to be one are, but true christians strive to live by the teachings of Jesus.

This psalm is perfect for America today! The enemies against a Godly America have been exposed and will not triumph! The FISA memo was released! Thank God--and God bless America!
