Pruning as an integral part in spirituality.

Life is like a roller coaster ride, one moment you are up and another you are down. Each phase of life serves a specific purpose to enable us bear fruit.

Once in a while events don't go according to plan and we resort to taking decisions which may ultimately lead to our eventual destruction.

Humans are essentially spiritual beings and our goal on this planet is to reach the highest level of spirituality.

Yeshua(Jesus) said in John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman(Vinedresser)

From the above we are made to understand we are like branches on a vine,Jesus is the vine,God is the vinedresser and the Holy spirit is the sap or nutrient that flows from the vine to the branches.

If we do not bear fruit of the spirit from the vine,we wither and are cut off by the vinedresser.This is clearly stated in the following verse:

John 15:6  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Jesus admonished us on how to bear the fruit of the spirit; 

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

However for us to bear more fruit we have to be pruned or purged and this is the point at which we run off the mark and fall prey to the great deceiver.

Pruning involves cutting away or trimming dead or overgrown branches in order to produce more fruits.What this implies is sometimes we have to be pruned or cut back for us to achieve the purpose of God in our lives.

 Pruning is essential for spiritual growth and for us to addressed as Children of God we have to be matured spiritually. We are not servants as stated by Jesus;

John 15:14-15  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Therefore we must accept pruning as an integral part of spiritual growth as evident in the latter part of John 15:2

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

The Lord is good all the time
