Disbelief in the church?

in #christian-trail5 years ago (edited)

Greetings brothers and friends,

The weekend I was talking with some brothers of the church, and they told about a pastor who asked: - Do you really believe that Christ is coming?

When I heard that, I couldn't believe it, usually, those are words of unbelievers or people who are just beginning in God's ways, they can also be words of atheists, anyway… I never imagined that a pastor would say something like that .

I know that we are all free to think and say what we want, but the fact is that if we are on this path, in my case as a Christian, I would never doubt what I preach, what I profess. I think it's something "crazy" or just illogical! to Preach something that I don't believe!

Jesus talked a lot about disbelief when he was in this world, we know that we will face that and that there are people we must rescue from disbelief so that they can know the truth... but... that disbelief is within the church? Wao, that is total madness.

So why would anyone strive, for example, that pastor, why is he still a pastor if he does not believe what he preaches?

Matthew 17:17

Jesus answering said: Oh, incredulous and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? How long will I bear you? Bring it to me here.

God hates disbelief, there are many verses that speak of rejection of unbelief, since it is closed the way of God's purpose, because for him the most important thing is to believe, believe without hesitation, but if you don't believe, your heart hardens and there God does not act, it is as if you put a lock on your heart.

Matthew: 13:58

And he did not do many miracles there, because of their unbelief.

Unbelief kills faith and without faith it is impossible to please God. When Jesus releases the boy who was demonized, He first asked the father, do you think you can be free? And in many of his miracles, Jesus asked first if they believed He would do the miracle.

Mark 9:23-24.

23 Jesus said to him: If you can believe, to him who believes everything is possible.
24 And immediately the boy's father cried out and said: I believe; Help my disbelief.

The boy's father acknowledges that he has disbelief in his heart, but asks God for help. Because when we recognize our failures and confess to God and declare that we want to be free, God can act there, it is like removing that lock that does not allow God to do as He wants.

Mark 6:5-6

5 And he could not do any miracles there, except that he healed a few sick people, putting their hands on them.
6 And he was amazed at their disbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Unbelief hardens the hearts and dries up the spiritual life, there may be a little doubt and that for you it is not of great importance, but that little doubt can become a great mountain that can then reach you away from the ways of God and Your love for the Lord goes out.

Hebrews 3: 12-13

12 Look, brethren, that there is no evil heart of disbelief in any of you to depart from the living God;
13 Before exhorting one another each day, meanwhile it is said: Today; so that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

We must take care of doubt and disbelief, when there is a little doubt in our hearts, it is better to clarify it, read the word and pray for God to clarify our thoughts. Let us have no doubt in our lives so that nothing separates us from the love of God.

I would advise that you don't question his faith in Christ without first conceptualizing certain biblical concepts like :

  1. Was Jesus actually referring to his physical second appearance as He did??
What if He meant the PRINCIPLES which will dominate the world instead of the subsisting human principles??
  2. Have we actually conceptualize what Paul meant by Spiritual human bodies as different from physical bodies of flesh and blood which can't inherit eternity.
  3. Where is the location of God's Kingdom? Isn't it supposed to be inside of us in our " hearts"?
  4. Can a physical person inhabit our fleshy heart??
  5. Was Jesus actually speaking about physical kingdom as the bonded Jews were expecting?

Nevertheless, we should never forget Paul's injection of restricting Revelations according to believers' levels of faith, because it can only be unto us according to our level of faith!!

Shalom!

Greetings, I am not questioning his faith. It's just that I find it hard to believe that a person preaches something that he himself doesn't believe ... for example I preach that God heals, and I'm convinced of that... and I think it would be wrong for me to preach that God heals and doubt that He really does...
Thank you for commenting and visiting my publication.

I am delighted you find time to respond.

What he understand from Jesus' literary statements may be as reveled , not according to their human interpretation.

Example: Jesus said "EAT MY FLESH and DRINK my BLOOD"

Why didn't His disciples ate His flesh and drank His Blood??

Similarly , note that spiritual bodies are different from physical bodies!!

The pastor may be saying Jesus will manifest as spiritual body , not visible and touchable as against the popular belief that Jesus is coming back as a physical human being!!

Disbelief is a sin and destroys us

That's right, we have to be careful not to have disbelief in us heart.
