I was in a particular church today for the very first time and while entering the church, the usher at the door handed us(mh friend and I) pamplets. On getting to our sit, I decided to open the pamphlet. In the middle of the pamphlet I saw an envelop like structure. On it was written offering.

A lot of things were running through my mind. I started to wonder why an offering envelop has to be this big. Looking around there were a lot of beautiful and handsome face around. I was not with much though but at least it was essential to give unto the Lord.

Now My Point

The envelope was a beautiful one and apart from that, it was Big. I might be wrong but I feel making the envelop big was deliberate. I cant be certain of the reason but I feel it was to push people in to dropping something massive in it.

Seeing the envelop I was feeling guilty already. I was already imagining how the amount I wanted to drop was going to look in it. Apart from that there were a lot of eyes around and there was no way I could have dropped money without people seeing me and seeing the amount.

IMO I feel a basket should be at the back of the church where each church member will go and drop what the want and can afford not doing things to make them drop more than the amount they intended.

I stand to be corrected.
