European Commission: Morocco is the first economic partner of the Union in Africa and we are developing a green partnership

After a meeting with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, the European official said, "We are working to develop a green partnership between Morocco and the European Union (...) that will enable us to develop cleaner energy," noting that Morocco is the first economic partner of the Union in Africa.
n June, in Brussels, the two parties announced their engagement in a project for cooperation in the fields of energy, combating global warming and preserving the environment, for a "green economy". The project is part of the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Morocco and the European Union are bound by an expanded partnership contract that has been in effect since 2000, covering several aspects, the most important of which is the export of agricultural products at preferential prices for the Moroccan side, and fishing for the European side

But this partnership was recently shaken after a European court decided in late September to cancel the agricultural and fisheries exchange agreements.

In a speech, King Mohammed VI had affirmed, "We tell those with ambiguous or dual positions that Morocco will not take any economic or commercial step with them that does not include the Moroccan Sahara."
