Making Personal Choices According to "Humans By Design"

in #choices7 years ago

Greg Braden, a pioneer in bridging science, spirituality and the real world and five times best selling author has a new book, "Humans By Design" in which he lays out the evidence that shows that Darwin's evolutionary theory does not fit the reality of human history as discovered by scientific findings. He summarizes, "One thing appears to be certain, however: The DNA that makes us who we are, and what we are, is not the result of the process of evolution that Charles Darwin described. My sense is that if we can answer the second question--how the fusion occurred--what we discover will ultimately help us answer the question of why, and much more. When we can answer definitively how the ancient genetic fusion happened and how specific pieces of the fusion were modified so precisely and so quickly 200,000 years ago, the solution to these mysteries will lead us directly to an explanation for why such an extraordinary event took place."

He points out that the common lifestyle beliefs of competition and survival of the fittest are not conducive to the survival of our human species. "Even Charles Darwin thought his own theory was "grievously hypothetical" and gave emotional content to his doubts when he said, "The eye to this day gives me a cold shudder." To think the eye had evolved by natural selection, Darwin said, "seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree." http://www.windowview.org/sci/pgs/09doubts.html.

The current state of the world clearly calls for a different direction if humans and the world as we know it are to survive. We need to learn how to make choices that are in the best interests of everyone. Here are Greg Braden's guidelines for making choices "when it comes to the very personal question, Who am I? here's how the guidelines could be applied:

  • Do I recognize that I have a choice between believing the old story of human evolution and the new evidence that tells us evolution isn't our story?
  • Do I have the courage to choose to believe what the new science is telling us and to accept and embrace the new discoveries?
  • Do I have the strength to follow through and live what such a choice means when it comes to what I teach my children and the way I treat other people?"
