A farmer living the rural life may always play the spectator. But subjected to the rollout of the market economy and urbanization, one can no longer observe from the sidelines. The communists played with fire, and must get burnt.

This demonstrates how much more efficient Chinese characters are over English letters. Although from a technical standpoint, it would be more accurate to say that a double-byte Chinese character occupies the same space which only a single-byte English letter occupies. So of course more information can be packed into the former.
