US-UK support, China against pressure

United States and the United Kingdom support the recommendation of six general judges including Myanmar army chief on charges of genocide against Rohingyas, but China did not take it well. Again, the way of judging people accused in the international judicial process is complex and time-consuming. So the legal path to the genocide trial is not that easy, it has become clear.

In this context, the UN Security Council's discussion on the UN's Myanmar information-related research mission is important, it is important. According to New York's local time, the talks began on Tuesday afternoon. The Security Council organized this open discussion in the context of one year of Rohingya-Dhal.Eprothomalo

The United Nations Information Research Mission released the report on Rakhine killing on Rohingya on Monday. In this, the mission recommended the decision of six general officers including Myanmar's army chief for the massacre of recent history's horrific atrocities by the information-data.

The United Nations has not taken any action against Myanmar because the permanent five members of the Security Council are divided between them. That situation has not changed, after the United Nations report has been published, it is clear in the United States, United Kingdom and China.

United States Secretary of State for Asia and the Pacific Mark Field, welcomed the United Nations Information Search mission report. "The report will draw attention to the UN Human Rights Council and the Security Council," he said. After completing full report in the Human Rights Council in September, we will discuss it with the Security Council and other members.

A US State Department spokesman commented that the United States and its partners are looking for many options to ensure justice for people accused of Rohingya persecution.

United States and United Kingdom welcomed UN report but China did not take it well China's foreign ministry spokesman said in Beijing briefly yesterday that the historic, religious and anthropological aspects of the Rakhine issue are quite complicated. So unilaterally, criticism of Myanmar or pressure on the country will not help solve the problem.

It is evident in the division of the three permanent members of the Security Council that it is excessive to expect the United Nations to step in with a very fast Myanmar.

The United Nations Information Search Mission reports the context of the Special Criminal Court of International Criminal Court (ICC) or alternative substitute for standing in the court of the Myanmar General. The first option is the need of the United Nations Security Council's opinion to take the matter to the ICC's Hague. It is clear that the same decision is not made in the Security Council. Apart from that Myanmar is not a member of ICC, there is a big question about the trial in the court.

According to the UN report, the second option may be temporary special courts like Rwanda, former Yugoslavia, Lebanon and Cambodia. There is no alternative to Myanmar's cooperation for such a court. It is not very easy to establish justice in such a court, while the United Nations Information Search mission, where Myanmar did not cooperate with the minimum.

Diplomats of Bangladesh also say about the International Imperial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) in the trial of Myanmar generals. The United Nations General Assembly constituted the IIM in December 2016 to investigate and prosecute international crimes in Syria. Therefore, in the continuation of the Syrian paradigm, UN members have the opportunity to take such steps in Myanmar too.

However, experts associated with international trials are not blaming the ICC's trial. ICC Chief Counsel Fatao Bensuda petitioned the court in April on the jurisdiction of the Rohingya-Dhaka investigation. In this regard, the International Commission of Jurist Kingley Abbott told AFP that Bangladesh is suffering from the Rohingya crisis. And Bangladesh ICC member. In this context, if the court wants, the Chief Counsel may be allowed to investigate the matter of the displacement of the people of Myanmar. But this process will take a long time. Because, in this case, Bangladesh will have to take part, as also the Myanmar suspects will face court adjudication.

Asked about the University of Dhaka University Center for Genocide Studies. Imtiaz Ahmed said in the first light, the UN report said that due to Rohingya persecution, three international crimes, including genocide, have been made clear clearly. As a result, the destruction of Rohingya is not only legal and political, but also its social and economic impact. So the recognition of justice for the atrocities on the Rohingyas, including the General and Myanmar General, is a great recognition. Similarly, it will also create pressure for those who are in Myanmar.
