Facial Recognition - nowhere to run, nowhere to hide!
Dear Community,
This is somehow big and scary news. A wanted man has been caught, which may be considered positive, however the big picture is that smart CCTV systems are now able to identify people outside their homes. I think this may have a long reaching consequences and I don't know if I like such world.
So, what happened?
Chinese authorities using facial recognition system have been able to identify a wanted man out of 60,000 concert goers. The CCTV was present at the entrance to the concert of one of the Chinese stars Jacky Cheung in Nanchang city last week.
The man in question was wanted for "economic crimes" and has been arrested at the scene. Reportedly he was very surprised.
China runs a CCTV network of over 170 million cameras.
