With temperatures going as low as 8ºC (about 38ºF), the sidewalk vendors are still doing well.

I think the all-time low temperature here is 3ºC, by the vegetation that grows throughout the "winter" season. The way I describe that is that fall extends until about 2 weeks after the start of the spring growing season.

Sidewalk vendors are flourishing - both restaurants and fruitstands.

Me? I'm under the drip again, with coughing spells keeping me awake at night. I think it's pollution-induced - that your body interprets the PM2.5 particles as being microbes, and reacts accordingly. No fever.

My medicine for the day, I think, is an antibiotic and a cough suppressant.

Hospitals in China are more like what we would consider a large clinic. They do have in-patient rooms, but most of their patients are similar to what you'd see at a typical doctor;'s office in the U.S. We've been to several of the hospitals here - this is the new #1 hospital downtown, looking more like a bus terminal than a hospital.
