Since im living in China, i have put down a lot of time for learning and understanding dreams of my childhood, from one of which was chinese culture. How disappointed i was after living in china for more than a year, with use of language and experience of life in post communist and american societies, finding that everything that beign left of china is pure lie. Well everything of not "New China". Also i do not blame new society, i must say its NOT China, its divercificated and reincarnated communist russian society with different language and a different way of evolving, like many other small asian populations of Russian Federation which beign adopted and changed to Russian way of living so was and almighty China. Although my researches(with Japanese sources) came to conclusion of perhaps seeing those changes as far as Mongolian invasion to China, which was also changing invading Russia and most of the world. But as it tend to say at those times Slavic culture was ruined. So was Chinese (buy Japanese perspective). But nowadays the way of speaking and pronouncing words and music and TV shows, jokes etc was highly adopted from russian communist culture.

Also new China name itself as one big country with population of 90% of Han race, it seems that these Han race is the same as "Russian" soviet race. Huge amount of differences: from language and culture to clothes and even facial lines, can be found even as close as inside of the province level saying that whole country was build out of huge amount of small kingdoms, which is proved by history.
