Shenzhen Saige Tower shaking
On May 18, 2021, the Saige Building in Huaqiangbei Street, Futian District, Shenzhen City, was shaken. The building was closed and all the people in the building were evacuated. After that, the building was suspected to have shaken again on May 19 and May 20.
On May 21, a notice dated Shenzhen SEG Group Co., Ltd. obtained from the merchant of SEG Tower said: In order to ensure that the SEG Tower test work smoothly, free from outside interference, the SEG Group decided to study, since May 21, the suspension of all owners, merchants, tenants in and out of the SEG Tower office buildings and electronic market, to be completed after the relevant test work and then open in an orderly manner, related matters will be notified.
The administration office of Seg Square confirmed the notice, saying that merchants are not allowed to enter or leave today and the specific opening time will have to wait for notification from government departments.

Located at the intersection of busy Shennan Middle Road and Huaqiang North Road, the Saig Square Tower was completed in 1999, according to public information. With a total height of 355.8 meters, the building has 79 floors, 75 floors above ground and 4 floors underground, with a total construction area of 170,000 square meters.
It is worth mentioning that the Saig Tower was once the third tallest building in Shenzhen and one of the highest concrete-filled steel tubular buildings in the world. It also achieved the "Shenzhen speed" of 2.7 floors per day.
