Why does China build many high-speed rails, why doesn't China spend this sum of money in developing air travel like USA?

in #chinalast year

The construction speed of China's high-speed rail is ranked first in the world.

Now China's high-speed rail network extends in all directions, and the plan has covered many originally underdeveloped areas. The construction of railways and high-speed rail lines has promoted development opportunities for a large number of areas that originally had inconvenient transportation, not only allowing local agricultural and sideline products to better export The channel has played a more important role in promoting local talent exchange and revitalizing tourism development resources.

From my personal feelings and observations, the reasons behind China's vigorous development of high-speed rails are mainly as follows:

First of all, Chinese people's demand for travelling is growing day by day, which is more diversified and high-quality required than before. With the rapid development of China's economy and the improvement of people's living standards, people are more willing to go out of their homes to travel and consume, pursuing faster, more comfortable, and safer ways of traveling. The emergence and progress of high-speed rails can undoubtedly meet the needs mentioned above. In particular, compared with travelling by air, high-speed rail travel is more time-saving and comfortable for me during short journeys or the Spring Festival.

Second, the development of China's high-speed rails is in line with the needs of economic development. For China's local development, the advancement of high-speed rail technology plays an important role in promoting overall economic development, regional coordination and urban-rural integration. With the expanding coverage of high-speed rail lines, cities and regions in China are being connected from east to west, from south to north, thereby forming an efficient and convenient transportation network. I used to take the high-speed train from Beijing to Guangzhou, which is 2,298 kilometers long and only took about 8 hours. The operation of the high-speed rail line also promotes the development of industries related to it, such as hotels, catering, tourism, etc., creating more job opportunities for all parts along the line.

For example, you can order takeout on the high-speed rail, and the food will be delivered to our seats when we arrive at the next station, and you can also buy some special goods from the origin or destination on the high-speed rail, or handmade toys of the high-speed rails. In addition, high-speed rails also help rural areas integrate into the urban economic circle, making it possible for the interconnected development of urban and rural areas. It not only helps agricultural and sideline products go out of the countryside and gain more sales space and market, but also drives tourists to travel to rural areas and promotes the development of rural tourism, which is also in line with China's rural revitalization strategy. The imbalance between urban and rural economic development will be eased and livelihood issues could be resolved correspondingly.

Third, from the perspective of employment and technology, the construction and operation of high-speed rails involve many fields, including design, manufacturing, construction, operation and maintenance, etc., providing employment opportunities for all aspects, such as restaurants and various shops inside the high-speed rail station, which not only meet the various needs of passengers, but also have local characteristics, so that you can hang out and kill time easily while waiting for the train. I used to buy traditional pastries "Daoxiang Village" and some cultural and creative products of Beijing at the Beijing high-speed railway station. At the scientific and technological level, to meet the needs of high-speed rail construction, the relevant industries have invested a lot of technology research and innovation, which not only promotes technological progression, but also gives rise to a number of excellent enterprises and professionals, injecting strength into the development of China's manufacturing industry.

Compared with China, many companies in the United States have spent much more energy and money on commercial manned spaceflight, such as the successful Ax-1 manned spaceflight mission of the United States by SpaceX last year, which sent four American "civilians" to space and completed the docking activity with the International Space Station.

Looking at China, its current aerospace planning and implementation adhere to the strategy that the national aerospace Ministry performs as the lead, there is still no plan to develop space tourism.

I think this situation is mainly because the time is not ripe, China's manned spaceflight started later than the U.S., and the China’s Tiangong space Station has not been officially completed. Private companies in China's aerospace sector are still mainly engaged in rocket development and satellite launching. Nevertheless, space tourism is also included in the mid - and long-term planning, such as the high-frequency supersonic tourism aircraft of the "Skytravel" company, and the suborbital tourism rockets and spacecraft of the Aerospace Science and Technology Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Second, in the light of present situation, China does not need commercial space flight to provide additional funding for the national space industry. The American civilians entering the space are rich in assets so that they directly or indirectly invest a huge amount of money for the United States manned space program, except for the cost of space travel. Currently, China's space industry is supported by the national strong economic foundation and investment, whether projects planned by the state or projects operated by private companies have sustained funding. Therefore, there is no need for China to charge high "ferry ticket fees" to make up for the cost of aerospace industry.

Finally, China puts the safety of people first all the time. The execution of space missions requires not only rich training experience and outstanding physical fitness, but also the ability to face severe and complex emergencies. In the history of the United States and Russia, there are some tragedies of manned spacecraft explosion. China strictly obeys the principle of people foremost, so I believe China will not rashly carry out a private space mission when the time is not ripe, the technical conditions are not fully prepared, and the space knowledge and corresponding training of ordinary people are not up to the requirements.
