  • WhatsApp has been severely disrupted by Chinese authorities as they tighten censorship in a bid to prepare for a major Communist Party congress next month.

  • The messaging app previously malfunctioned in the country over the summer and though text messaging, voice calls and video calls appeared to be working again, voice messages and photos are not going through.
