Mini Me

Being as tall as me at age 12, I would hardly call her mini, but she is the "epito -me" of me.

My child, my purpose, my teacher. I say she is the teacher because she sees the world in a way that I am only just starting to see again. Jaded years take their toll, we forget the beauty, the simplicity of life.

Yes, I hear you, Hell, I hear me! "Life is not simple!" For her the everyday burden of bills and responsibility reduce her life's complication. She has not experienced heartbreak, abuse or very many negative experiences. So for her it is simple.

The backstory is something I will share another time, but I have ensured that she is safe. I have put myself into the proverbial firing line, so that I may speak and advise her with the wisdom that has come from practicality rather than theory.

She has an Instagram account, yes she is young but she knows all the security measures to be taken. She used to use it for her horse riding pictures, but because we have every Apple device linked, I see what she posts. I actually became a bit concerned of late though. The images have become dark and haunting with some incredibly deep and profound words accompanying them.

I had to ask "Are you ok?" She just laughed, and replied "Of course! Why?"

She is an artist, has been from a young age and now she has found words and she adds images. She doesn't know that it's what I do too. Yesterday I showed a poem of mine, her reaction " So that's where I get it from! It's genetic" all this said with a huge grin and a giggle.

So now my "epito -me" and I shall encourage each other to share and create and write.

There are so many and there often times when her simple honest truths bring me down to earth. Children are people too, we need to listen to them.

She is my teacher in humility, gratitude and simplicity.
