SEC S20W4/ Mini Chef in Action
Steem greetings from the motherland-Cameroon and welcome to my blog as I share my entry to the challenge “Mini Chef in Action” organised by @anailij1992.
I wanted to do the recipe with my son who is 4 years old because each time I'm in the kitchen, he is always coming to ask what I'm doing. Unfortunately, he is not friendly with the camera. The moment I realised I wanted to snap him, he abandoned it and left. I called my daughter who is 7 years old to do the recipe with her.
That said, it was a familiar recipe for our pancakes we usually do it often. My kids love my pancake recipe because I add a lot of milk to it, making it yummy 😋.
The Ingredients
- 4 scoops of powdered milk.
- 3 eggs
- 10 cubes of sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil
- Flavour (optional)
Steps to Follow.
Take a bowl, and sieve your all-purpose flour to remove any dirt particles and keep aside. I had to help her sieve the flour to avoid her messing up the kitchen.
She poured water into a bowl, about 1 and a half glasses, and she added her sugar, and salt to dissolve.
She cracked her eggs, removed the shells and poured the egg white and yolk into the bowl with dissolved sugar and salt. Then use the whisk to whisk until she got the desired mixture.
Add the powdered milk, and 1/2 glass vegetable oil into the other already mixed ingredients and continue to whisk.
Add the flour bid by bid and whisk until the batter is smooth not too watering and not too thick.
Frying Process.
I helped her to switch on the cooker and she put the frying pan on the burner, greased the pan with a tsp of vegetable oil and poured 2 large spoons of the batter into the preheated frying pan.
Allow it at low heat until it gets the desired colour you want. She used the tuner-slotted spoon to turn it because the frying pan was heavy and she could not flip it. Allow it for a few seconds and remove and put it in a tray to cold.
She repeated the process until the batter was finished. Then she folded them into wraps and placed them in the tray. Normally, we usually fry some veggies mixed with chicken strips to fill in the pancakes before the wrap-up. It was lockdown and we could not get some vegies as all stores were locked down.
She faced a lot of challenges during the frying process because my cooker was a bit taller than her height. I did not have any kitchen chairs she could use and stand on it.
The most exciting part was the mixture process. She enjoyed whisking to the extent that she almost poured the batter on the flour.
Testing the first pancake she fried.
Her favourite moment was testing the first pancake. She had to eat the first pancake she fried before continuing with the frying.
My favourite moment was sitting back with the baby and giving instructions 😆. I loved the confidence she put on and told me to sit back, she would be the one to prepare the meal for the day.
In sum, it was a nice experience with the kids in the kitchen. They were cautious enough not to get involved in any kitchen accidents. I will not go without inviting @pelon53, @waterjoe, @max-pro and @crismenia to share ideas about “Mini chef in action”.
Saludos y bendiciones.
Maybe in our next fry, we gonna consider adding cheese and butter. Thanks for engaging.

Las panqueques es una comida muy rica en mi país es muy común en el desayuno o la cena acompañada de queso mantequilla o miel. Nunca la he comido con verduras pero ya tengo una nueva receta. Felicidades a tu niña hizo un buen trabajo
Try it with veggies and it is so delicious and nutritive. I will also try it with cheese and butter.
I can see a cheerful mini chef, pancake is very delicious and it's very easy to prepare, I'm sure your daughter would want to do this again because I can see the boldness in her, of course you are a good chef judging from your blog so she will make a good chef too.
She is always excited to try new recipes but so scared of kitchen accidents. Maybe in future, she will not like cooking. You know kids nowadays are unpredictable.
Yeah. 🤣
Saludos amiga, igual que mi nieta le encanta el panqueques, que mejor compensar que la mini cheff, dando el visto bueno de su obra maestra, gracias por compartir, bendiciones
Pancakes are the best, most kids love them and my kids can eat them every day without complaining.
