It's funny seeing this picture of the chicks so little and innocent, now they have grown up with different characteristics and personalities. In the picture this is the first week we brought them home. We bought 11 light Brahmas, 9 buff orpingtons, and 5 Isa browns. Now six months later we are up to 6 eggs per day. The Isa browns all started laying first and now a couple buffs are laying too. A little surprise were the two roosters we discovered mixed in the light Brahma group. They all seem to be mild mannered but the Isa browns give the best eggs. 25% of their eggs are double yolkers and most are larger than the other eggs. We should have purchased more Isa browns, but now we know.

We're Hoping to Raise Chickens Next Year.. If you have advice, you should add some Pointers in the Post. Would love to hear about your trials and what works for you.
