Deflection

in #chess3 years ago

Sometimes you can't capture a piece to remove a defender, but you can distract that piece. Deflection is the tactic of removing a defender by making it move to another square. Often this involves a sacrifice that will be worth it for checkmate or greater material gains.

White has a lot of pressure against Black's kingside, but White has a back-rank weakness. Can you use a deflection tactic to force checkmate in two for Black?

You stunned White with a great queen sacrifice. Win the game!

Nice work - deflection to the rescue once again!
