I played this wonderful little chessgame, the ending is specially nice

in #chess7 years ago

I decided upon playing a game or two online, and then this little gem sprung up on the board.

1.c4 e5 2.g3 Nf6 3.Bg2 d6

This move seems to be a little slow.

4.Nc3 c6 5.e3 Be6 6.b3 Qc8 7.Nge2

I could have tried to play Bb2 and hope for a mistake like Bh3 which would cost a piece, but that would be a not so serious move.

7...Bh3 8.O-O Bxg2 9.Kxg2 Be7 10.d4 O-O 11.Bb2 exd4

This is a very strange decision I felt this must be wrong, I get f4 for my knight which is a good square.

12.exd4 d5 13.Nf4 Bd6 14.Qf3 Qf5

It activates the queen, but he might run into some issue if I can ever move my knight with a discovery, or if he takes it creates a pin

15.cxd5 c5

This move seems very strange, he gives up a pawn and removes his bishop from the good diagonal.

16.dxc5 Bxc5 17.Nce2 Ne4 18.Rac1 b6 19.g4

Kicking the queen so I can do a nice attack with Nh5! But this idea never came to fruition.

19...Nd2

Instead of giving me the attack, which might not have worked he instead decided on giving up a piece.

20.gxf5 Nxf3 21.Kxf3 Nd7 22.Rg1 f6 23.Ne6

Arguably this is bad enough to resign, Probably his Nd2 was a big mistake that cost the game effectively.
