Hikaru Nakamura overcame the fact that he lost on his birthday by beating Vishy Anand on the 47th anniversary of the Indian legend. That was the only decisive game of the third round of the London Chess Classic, although we did get to see top quality chess. Wesley So had to work hard to escape against Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik showed his wits against Fabiano Caruana, while Maxime Vachier-Lagrave was pardoned by Veselin Topalov. Anish Giri managed to gain an advantage pawn where it appeared that there was nothing, but could not prevent Mickey Adams add his first half point.
