The chess crowd is not particularly prone to devalue an unofficial title, and the number of geniuses in history can be counted on the fingers of one hand: Morphy, Capablanca, Alekhine, Fischer, Kasparov. For some some more, but those names would be familiar to anyone. Note: All of them, including Morphy, were the strongest players of their time - Champions. And then comes Vassily Ivanchuk. For a short period of time he was the second best player, but no more. However, he has been a genius to most people since he was about 16 years old.
Magnus Carlsen
In 2010 it reached the first position of the international classification of the International Federation of Chess. He was the youngest player to exceed 2800 Elo points, and to achieve the number one position in the world when he achieved it at the age of 19 years and one month. In the list of April 2014, Carlsen reached 2882 Elo points , the highest figure of all time; surpassing the 2851 obtained by Kasparov in July 1999.
