Be Your Own Cheerleader, See Your Own Worth!

“There will always be someone who can't see your worth. Don't let it be you.” ― Mel Robbins, The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage

Life is not always about rainbows and butterflies. Every now and then, we experience a little bump in the road and life can be hard. So hard that sometimes we begin to doubt ourselves. We begin to doubt our abilities and began to surround ourselves with so much negativity that it could drown us. Life is a wheel, sometimes were up and at times we are down, regardless of where we are and what we feel, I hope that we can always see the beauty of everything around us.

There are instances when we are faced with adversity so great, and the very people that we expect to believe in us will disappoint us. They will discourage us and make us feel even more vulnerable. We longed for a fortress when we are surrounded by our enemies. We long for a safe-haven when everything around us doesn't seem right. But sometimes we have to save ourselves. Sometimes, no one can do it for us. Even when others don't see our worth, we MUST and SHOULD see our own worth ourselves.

Allow me to share with you a few points that hopefully could make this process a little easier. It is hard going against the flow, but sometimes we have to do it, face it and learn from it.

Free yourself from other people's expectations.

Most people want to experience true happiness. Sometimes we spend our entire lives searching and seeking, but if we learn to widen our perspectives, one of the things that draws us back from truly living is living other people's expectation. It could be from our friends, our parents, and from the world itself. And that is a heavy burden to bear. The sooner we realize this, the sooner we can enjoy the beauty and the little things in life.

We live in a very critical society. Regardless of what we do, people will always have something to say against us. We can't please everyone at all times, even our closest friends and our family. One thing that we should always remember is that we are not here to live other people's expectations. Sometimes their intentions can be beneficial, but it is totally up to us if we want to live it. We hold the key and we don't have to be burdened by other people's opinion. We are human, capable of thinking and forming our own thoughts, we can decide for ourselves and live our lives the way we want it and how we want it.

“I do my thing and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, And you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it’s beautiful. If not, it can’t be helped.” ― Fritz Perls, Gestalt Therapy Verbatim

Be your own best cheerleader.

Many of us believe that the only way to feel good about ourselves is to have someone else constantly reaffirm to us that we are good people. The truth is, however, that the act of simply believing in ourselves can be enough to give us the necessary confidence to accomplish the impossible, achieve greatness, and pick ourselves up when we fall.

It is to great to be surrounded with loved ones, to be with people we care for. And it's not entirely a bad thing, what's wrong is when we find pleasure and happiness only from the people around us. Individually, we need to see our own worth. We need to love ourselves, that way we can stand on our own feet.

People change and people come and go. Life is so fragile and short that we can never really tell who will still be there for us in the future. Life will throw a lot of things at us and our set of friends will change over time. If you have a best friend, great! Still, they will never be with you all the time. Sometimes, we need to be happy in with ourselves. We need to find strength and encouragement from within. Learn to appreciate good company and also solitude.

Most people will say that some people know them best. The reality is, we know ourselves better. We should be our own best cheerleader.

Live. Truly live.

The two points above are one of the key components of truly living. First, we need to stop living other people's expectation. Be confident with yourself and know that you are in control. You hold the key to decide for yourself and learn to be responsible for the outcome of your choices. Second, we need to be our own best cheerleader. We need to stand for ourselves and learn to be happy with ourselves. Once we make a conscious effort of living these things, only then can we start to appreciate the little things in life. Only then can you say for yourself that you have truly lived.

As we go on with our lives, I hope that we can find meaning and happiness. To close this post:

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream!

Happy Wondering!
