The popular ChatGPT application for iPhone, what are the necessary settings?

The app version of OpenGPT, a chat service using AI/artificial intelligence, has finally been released on the Japanese App Store. The release was delayed for about a week in the U.S., and many iPhone users may be relieved to know that they did not have to wait too long.

The user interface is in English, but questions can be written in Japanese, and of course hiragana/katakana and kanji can be used. There is no need to use formal phrases, just as you would in a normal conversation.
ChatGPT is a web service, and the engine exists in the cloud, so the functions of the web version and the app version are basically the same. There is little difference in the content of answers, but the app version can be launched from the App Library, can be linked to other apps via "shortcuts," and has more applications than the web browser. However, we can expect further enhancements in the future.
The ChatGPT application can be used without any special settings, but there are two items that should be configured.
The first is the voice input function; OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, offers its own voice recognition system, "Whisper," and to use it, you need to give permission to use the microphone on your iPhone. Tap the waveform button on the right side of the question input field, then tap the "OK" button on the "ChatGPT is asking for access to your microphone" dialog that appears, and you are ready to go.
The second setting is to prevent ChatGPT from learning your chats. If you do not want your questions to be used for training by ChatGPT, tap the "..." button in the upper right corner of the screen, then open the screen by tapping "Settings", then "Data Controls". If you change the "Chat History & Training" switch to off (from green to white) on the screen that appears, the content of subsequent conversations will not be used for ChatGPT training.
