OpenAI, an AI company, has introduced a new feature on April 25, 2023, that allows users of ChatGPT to turn off their chat history. This feature ensures that conversations initiated with chat history turned off will not be utilized to train and enhance the ChatGPT model, nor will they show up in the history sidebar. These settings are accessible in the ChatGPT settings and can be adjusted anytime. In a blog post, OpenAI mentioned that they expect this new feature to be an easier way for users to manage their data compared to the current opt-out process. If chat history is disabled, ChatGPT will store new conversations for only 30 days and evaluate them only if required to detect abuse before removing them permanently. This feature was introduced after a bug caused users to briefly access other people's conversation recordings in March 2023, which raised privacy concerns, resulting in Italy being the first country to ban ChatGPT.

In addition, OpenAI announced a new export option that simplifies the process for users to export ChatGPT data and understand the information that ChatGPT saves. A file containing the users' conversations and other relevant data will be sent to them via email.

ChatGPT, which launched in November 2022 and immediately became popular, uses text prompts or instructions to automatically generate text in various knowledge domains, providing detailed and clear responses. OpenAI also revealed that they are working on a ChatGPT Business subscription, which will be available in the next few months.
