The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or popularly known as ICAI was given birth by an act of parliament on July 1st 1949, a year even prior to the formulation of constitutions in India. It is considered as one of the oldest professional institutes of the country. It was mainly formed to aid the economic growth of the country. It is also known be the second largest finance body in the world in terms of members with more than 3.3 lakhs members and counting as I write this article.
