POEM: NOSECRAFT
“Reach into your nostril
My pretty
And give me what you find.”
The witch spoke as a fair maiden
With hook hemmed hands
She had a black silk robe
And leggings with elastic bands
I reached in and she
With a spell tapped button nose
My face felt hot and tingled
From my skull to each bone
I felt a bell and pulled it
Out of my nose with a jingle
It was also connected
To a can of Pringles
“Keep digging and more
Like a candy store
Will appear with a wiggle!”
Said the witch and stopped her pitch
And used a spell to mingle
My bell and canister of chips
With rose hips and stinging nettle
I dug and dug and dug and dug
Like a bone chasing puppy pug
I managed to pinch the tongue
Of a frog trying to catch a slug
With that she had enough
To do what she came to do
And with a stir she conjured a furry
Black cat or two
After all I had seen from her spells
I wondered what was on the other side
