STEEM EVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP LAGOS

STEEMHELPINGHANDS due the environmental survey in Lagos Nigeria embarked on an impacting project tagged STEEM EVIRONMENTAL DAY.

It is a project that was propelled after our interview and survey taken around agege in Lagos state

Bringing STEEM EVIRONMENTAL DAY as part of our listing projects was to promote healthy Evironmental living and impacting the habit or knowledge of cleanliness and environmental care in the minds of the people.

STEEM-HELPING-HANDS decided to initiate this project on the WORLD CLEAN-UP DAY whereby we partnered companies and organizations like Visionscape a waste management company in Lagos state, JCI organization and REESAFRICA and also the Lagos state cleanup initiative owned by the government.

This was supported by the government due to the increase of waste in the country which has reduced Evironmental sustainability and good standards of living amongst the people. It is obvious that aside the government, each citizen has a role to play in creating a better environment and a better world for themselves and future generations.

The activity was held at iyana-paja and agege in Lagos state which waste bags, nose guard and disposable gloves were distributed among all the groups to ensure a healthy cleanup.

All groups were divided into two categories, one group in charge of bio-degradeable/ non-recyclable waste while another group was incharge of non-biodegradeable or recyclable waste materials

this was done to impact the mentality or promote habit of waste recycling ♻ among the people.

The groups cleaned up all sides of the roads, bridges and streets with each member depositing bags of waste within short periods of time.

Waste bags were also distributed among the markets, streets and houses to reduce the disposition of waste on the streets, roads and markets, this also will encourage healthy way of living and impact the knowledge in the ignorant ones.

Voluntarily many passers-by and market women joined us in the cleanup because they obviously knew it was beneficial to their communities.


The waste were packed carefully and carried away by Visionscape company for proper disposal and recycling.
