Last February 16, 2018 we had our fund raising event for our loving sister who's battling against Breast Cancer. It was a post-valentines special acoustic night, played by our fellow Aphios "Mang Kanor Band" with special participation of Apo Ninety Six and Sis. Megz. It was a successful event indeed, thanks to all brothers and sisters who supported us and of course to Sis Janet for allowing us to do this.

THE LOCATION

After several scouting of bars and restaurant here in Abu Dhabi, finally we found one place that fits our needs and budget, BAROSA BAR at the top of Hotel Ramada Downtown in Tourist Club.

The staff are very friendly, most of the waiters and waitresses who work there are kabayans. The wife of the bar owner is a Filipina as well and they attended the event to make sure everything will be under control.

Mr. Rajan, the bar Supervisor was very sweet and hospitable. He made sure that all of our request will be implemented, from foods, decorations, discounts in drinks and even the equipment for our band. Who would not admire him when you unexpectedly received a gift in celebration of Valentines? 😂 He made us feel not just his client but as a new found friend.

POST-VALENTINE SET-UP

Since the Valentines season is still in the air we want our guest to feel the Love vibes 💖 whether they are taken or single, we made sure they won't feel neglected. Thanks to Mr. Rajan who supported our event with his not so obvious valentines decoration 😁😁.

The bar has a dart area where most of their customers compete with each other, another way of relaxing yourself specially for those dart enthusiast.

THE EVENT

It was attended by 86 guest from APO members, friends and relatives. Some organization gave support as well, PICE (Philippines Institute of Civil Engineers) and SHRPA (Society of Human Resource Professionals and Associates) who became our colleagues in Bayanihan council. Aside from the registration (AED 100.00 consist of one drink and three finger foods), we prepared also a "Love Booth" where we sell some roses and bears with chocolates.

Of course, this event won't be complete without Sis. Janet appearance. She delivered a short message expressing how thankful she was for those people who keep supporting her. A pray over was given to her as well by the lead of Bro. Al Ybanez to bless her in her battle against cancer.

And since this event is dedicated to her, a few presentation was made for her while some brothers gave her flowers, a sign of love, respect and support.

To give a little fun in this event, a videoke challenge we're conducted and it was participated by nine (9) contestant. It was so intense as we can see the eagerness of each participant to win!

Seeing them enjoying only shows how this event was successful. We cannot contain the happiness, as organizer it was a roller coaster feeling specially when you are uncertain if we can reach the target numbers of attendees .... in fairness, it exceeded! 😁😁😁

Shout out to Mr. Rajan who spoiled us too much for giving me and Sis. Josie unlimited drinks! It was really a tipsy and fun night 😋😋😋

HEADING TO GOALS 📝✔️

An event will be declared successful if only you reach the target goal...... we raised a fund almost AED 7,500, expenses are already less, yehey! 😍👏🎉 As agreed, 70% of it will be donated to Sis. Janet and 30% will be for the organization funds to help us sustain and create another activities which will benefit others.

Once again, we would like to thank all APO who attended, friends, relative and colleagues as well. Thank you so much to the bar owner Mr. Sean and Mrs. Leah for accommodating us and to your staff special mention to Mr. Rajan who assist us until the event was done. Another activity ticked in our bucket list, another reason to celebrate and another reason for Sis. Janet to fight.
