🌞 Charity Made Easy on Steemit 👍

in #charity6 years ago (edited)

Thanks be to God for the opportunity He gave us to help.

Envelope

We have seen lots of posts on social media about people who need help. They got thousands of likes and shares. We have seen good results on the news as well, when some people saw those posts and actually took action. On Steemit, charity works are also very much appreciated and supported. I can say that because I've known what it feels like to hold this white envelope containing cash: real money from Steemit!

It's her short message via a quick interview, she thanks God and the Steemit community for the help. It's nice to learn that everything is OK now and their lives are almost back to normal after the fire.

This post serves as proof of receipt of the SBDs (Steem-Backed Dollars) earned by my first charity post. Including the donations in Steem and SBD I received, we managed to collect and remit P2050. This may not seem that significant but everything adds up. This is one of the results that may not be possible on traditional social media. Just by upvoting posts, you help authors and beneficiaries.

The screenshots below show how the money was transferred and cashed out.

I will show you the details for educational purposes, for those who need some basic (not detailed) instructions on cashing out from their Steemit wallets.

When you redeem rewards in your wallet, you will see the transaction in the history below, as well as transfers, etc.

Transfer

The picture above shows the "redeem" transaction for the post and the transfer to blocktrades (which appeared seconds later, after performing the transaction below).

Blocktrades
You will see this page upon clicking your Steem or SBD balance in your Steemit wallet and clicking "sell" from the dropdown. In this case, I sold 9.428 SBD for ETH (Ethereum). I used to sell for Bitcoin but ETH is faster and the transaction fees are usually much lower.

Receiving
After filling out the appropriate fields on blocktrades with the ETH wallet address (copied from coins.ph app's ETH wallet), and other details and submitting the transaction, the ETH is received in the coins.ph app after a few minutes.

Conversion
I converted the ETH to peso in the coins.ph app which also provides various cash-out methods like bank deposits and remittance centers.

Donations.png
I followed the same process for the voluntary donations.

As the Steemit community grows, I expect charity works to become more widespread and organized.
Once again, thanks be to God and to all of you who upvoted, resteemed and supported my first charity post, including @canadian-coconut, @purepinay, @hiroyamagishi, @eastmael, @hr1, @jraysteem and others (too many to mention, but much appreciated). Thanks be to God for allowing me to meet many inspiring people on Steemit.

Please continue to support @kennyroy, @canadian-coconut and others who have been working on genuine charity movements.

Thanks for reading/viewing!
