My Open Letter to the World
Dear World,
We have been given an incredible opportunity. Each of us, as an individual, has the chance to change the world, whether we realize it or not. And I don’t mean when they say “your contribution can help change the world”…I mean that each of us can literally make our own personal impact to change the world. It all comes down to whether we choose to take advantage of this opportunity.
Intriguingly, for many, this “opportunity” does not reveal itself as an opportunity, but rather as a reality. You see, the opportunity is being given life. Nothing more, nothing less. But this life is our opportunity…and it is the greatest opportunity of all, because it gives us the chance to be here, on Earth, and be present in the world that is calling to us to change it in a positive way.
The cool part about this opportunity is that it doesn’t rely on what you believe in politically, but rather, solely rests on what good you can bring to the world.
And let me tell you why you are not making a partial contribution to a larger whole to make a change, why you are the entire change: Because when you impact one other person in this world, they interact with a thousand more, and your impact is shared…and then those thousand people each interact with a thousand more…and on and on.
Now do you see why our opportunity is so large? We have the chance to make and be the change. And it can and will spread to the entire world. Because interaction doesn’t rely on having a million followers on social media to spread good in the world…it just relies on the time you spend with those who you see every day, and then those that they see every day, and so on.
Suddenly, the one thought that you shared with your friend has made its way to ten of his friends, which then made its way to tens, hundreds, thousands, and maybe even more simply through the most natural of all connective systems in this world: human interaction.
Do not forget the power that your words and ideas and thoughts can have to bring good to the world. Do not feel as if they are trapped and do not have the opportunity to get out to the world because you do not have a large platform. And do not feel as if they will not find supporters. If you truly have the good of others, the good of the world, and pure intentions in your mind, your message will find the audience you seek…I guarantee it.
So let us spread good far and wide in this world. Let it overtake greed, pride, hatred, and evil to bring warmth to others in times of cold. Let it awe us with its impact, awe us with stories of the lives it changes, and awe us with its potential to bring us all together as a global people.
Good has no language. It is met with a smile, gratitude, and respect in all languages, in all cultures, and in all corners of the world. And it is always welcome.
Remember, if you want to bring good to others, you will find no shortage of those looking to receive it. And that is the opportunity we have been given…to change this world.
