How trolling of the alt-right and 4chan led to fake news

The alt-right is an interesting movement with all kinds of people in it, unified in a dislike of the MSM and an internet culture in which trolling and Pepe the Frog are popular. One of the hilarious things they accomplished, was the literal creation of fake news by Main Stream Media.

So this is how it started. 4chan already confiscated Pepe the Frog, which led even Hillary Clinton to attack their new mascot Pepe. One day, a user got an idea to change the Ok-hand gesture symbol 👌:

As a result of this, and the spread of this hijacked symbol on social media, some people took it seriously:

This went so far, that journalist Emily Shugerman from the Independant even wrote an article about two visitors, which would supposedly be alt-right, making the "white supremacist hand sign" in the White House.

This led to a tweet by Tim Pool, another journalist, about this article being fake news:

And it also resulted into a lot of people which were amused on Twitter:

It isn't strange that many people don't trust the Main Stream Media anymore, here we have a reconstruction of what seems to be obviously fake news which slipped in a big newspaper, the strangest thing is how Shugerman didn't care to do some fact-checking when writing this article and basically accused two people in the White House for something which is fake.

Here we see the power of the alt-right and 4chan though, often discredited by especially the MSM, they are able to succesfully criticize the Main Stream Media and with their chaos, question our every day beliefs with a new kind of postmodernism which this time isn't limited to art and philosophy, but is aimed at the structures and ideologies dominating our modern society. The society which we live in is complex and people aren't easily betrayed by Main Stream Media and immoral objectives to influence the public opinion anymore, if it is obvious for an international community of free thinkers that some things in our society need drastic changes and need to be criticized to unravel the truth behind the given structures.

The community of 4chan and the alt-right is radical, and perhaps they can be considered the new freedom fighters . Although we might not all agree with them, they open up new doors to different perspectives on reality and the questioning of our own beliefs. As we can see here, things are too easily assumed or taken over, even by generally respected newspapers like the Independant, so it is important that we keep looking at all perspectives.
