Trust - Big word!

Let’s face it, this is a two-faced society where 1 of our 5 friends can be referred us plastic. I am not saying I am not guilty of being one because I think went to a phase where they need to be two-faced. But you should not always be like that because then that may be the reason people just give you a fake smile.

Trust is important in any relationship. So how can you gain a badge for being trustworthy?

Be reliable

A friend is someone you can count on when things get complicated and not only in good times. They are supposed to be present in good times and in bad times. Being reliable is also needed in work because when you are relied upon by your boss to get a job done then that means you are trustworthy and won’t let them down.

Keep confidential or secret information to yourself

Never spill someone else’s secret to anyone. One of my rules in life is that if it’s none of my business then I should keep it to myself. For example, someone told you about her pregnancy and you are itching to tell the world about it because you’re happy for her but she told you to keep it a secret to her family and friends. What you do? Of course, you keep it a secret and never spill any details to anyone because that is not your secret to tell.

Avoid gossiping

I am sure we’re all guilty of being a gossip girl/guy. Well it is inevitable for us to vent out our frustrations with someone to another person but we can still try to minimize gossiping. One of the things I hate are gossips because that means there are people in my circle who are two-faced. But sometimes I am guilty of also being like this. So anyway, what we can do is put your anger and frustrations in another form like writing it down and then throwing or burning the paper after. It is a nice form of release too.

Apologize when needed

When you hurt a person what do you do? I hope you talking with the person whom you’ve hurt is your answer because that is the right thing to do. Saying an apology doesn’t make you less a person. Heck, an apology can even make you look like a trustworthy person because no trustworthy is arrogant or doesn’t own up to their own mistake.

Remind yourself at all times that being trustworthy is a valuable asset to your life and to the lives of the people you care about.

Trust should be one of the first things build in a relationship. I have learned that when a person has a high confidence and trust in someone else, then that latter can achieve so many amazing things in life. If your parents trust you they will allow you to go out and explore the world without them, if your boss trust you then he will promote you and if your partner trust you then you don’t have to worry about coming home to face an argument.

See? Trust is important in all aspects of our lives. Build yourself as a trustworthy person and you’ll see the wonderful changes that can happen in your life.
