America's wars; Unending?

Following up on the holiday season, that time of peace and joy and malls, etc., we are faced back with the reality of the unending wars of the U.S. The interminable stream of praise for military, "support" our veterans (meaning always keep sending more young to war to get permanently disabled), rebuild a nuclear arsenal, and see what other countries we can stick our military nose into.

There is no draft because the average solider is paid and/or educationally compensated, and less than 1% of the population actively serve so most of the population has no skin in the game, except for the hit on their wallet. Yet most Americans are oblivious to foreign policy because there is no obligatory service. It's not a matter normally of national debate when and where we war, it is just business as usual for the corpo-industrial war machine. Additionally much of the army is poor and minority, serving out of pride but also economic necessity, and therefore even further detached from white america which still rules the land, let's not have any confusion about that.

So war is now perpetual, my oldest son is in college now and can remember no time the U.S. wasn't in war or it wasn't normal to talk about what country to attack/"protect" next. Empire is as empire does. We live in the war machine and are one with the war machine, the surveillance state, and the system of debt and eroding education, infrastructure, healthcare, and food quality. Think it's all connected? It is unending, until we decide collectively it can no longer be.
