It'll remain separate i imagine, though who knows what the future holds.
Steemit.com should eventually have communities, which will sort of be like subreddits, but not really a forum.
chainBB.com is going to be an alternate interface to the same data, but modeled after what we're all used to in traditional discussion forums.
Thank you. The only things i miss from Facebook are groups and direct messaging. I look forward to try it.
