Antibiotic resistance have found it's way into Norwegian hospitals
According to this article (in Norwegian), a feared intestinal bacteria has gotten a foothold in Norwegian hospitals. The bacteria name Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus is resistant against the most common antibiotics, and are on the WHO list of most feared bacterias.
As I wrote in an earlier blog post, we need to develop new antibiotic, but need a new financing model for this to work. Today's financing model will more or less result in status quo.
The wrong usage and dosage of antibiotics may create antibiotics resistant bacteria. We should be careful while taking an antibiotics course.
Spot on. But this is not a business model that the antibiotics producers and researchers are very fond of - investing vast amounts of money on a product that the consumers are advised against using unless absolutely necessary.
I cringe when I read about this.
Most of the reason for drug resistance these days is as a result of drug abuse - mostly antibiotics which leads to mutation of different viruses and bacteria.
With the advances in science, this will be taken care of in the future.
But at the same time, I'm also afraid of stronger drug resistance diseases coming up in the future.
nice......
