Some thoughts on equality, on the eve of HardFork 19

in #chainbb-general8 years ago

I came across some articles on the platform talking about inequality prior to the HardFork 19. This becomes an issue lately with the primary focus on HF19's linear reward curve, which is being expected to be a solution for the "inequality" here.

Inequality is undeniable a social reality, a challenging issue for every one of us in the world, no matter you are in the so-called first world or the third.

Surely there are some idealistic spirits behind the Steem project. But I think it would be too high and too unrealistic if someone expected that the "inequality" problem could be tackled overnight here in the community just by imposing some rules or some system design features. The community resembles the bigger society, at least to some extent. If inequality issue can be solved so easily, probably with some rules and codes, then, that solution must be an artificial, unsustainable one.

But, what is inequality? Or, what is equality?

Social equality is a state of affairs in which all people have the same status in certain respects, including civil rights, freedom of speech, property rights and equal access to certain social goods and services. I would say it is the rights to access to be concerned, not the result. You may find this is kind of free market thinking. After all, this is the way our society is operating, today.

Society is an extremely complex thing. There is no social system which guarantees that everyone is getting the equal, best result, but an ideal one would give everyone a fair chance to accomplish his desired target. An ideal system is often a sustainable system, too. Sustainability is the real, ultimate aim.

Back to HF 19. System design and features can always alter human behavior, but the exact results of the behavioral changes can only be approximated at best. Human actions are not always foreseeable.

It is impossible that everyone gets the same here. What should be expected is: every change on Steemit would lead us toward a more sustainable system. Will linear reward curve be a solution for this? Everyone has his own opinion and expectation.

We just have to wait for the things to play out. And, by the way, continue Steeming, and enjoy the journey.

So, let's continue with some daily photo sharing. :)

Heading to the bright side

Not a photographer, not even a shutterbug few weeks back. Too many professional and amateur photographers on Stemmit really motivated me to change my perspective toward seeing my city. Then only I know how fun is it to interact with the place you are living or visiting through the camera lens.

It will probably have a huge impact. Whether is it going to be positive for all or just a few remains to be seen.

some said the impact might be extreme, either side.

You should continue :-)
Great post overall.

Thank you! :)

We'll wait and see if HF19 brings more benefits than disadvantages.
