Japanese Curry Recipe.

in #chainbb-general7 years ago (edited)

I've been summoned by a friend to share a famous recipe for Japanese Curry. Making Japanese curry is actually quite simple, anyone can do it! I figured I might as well make a post out of it for anybody else that might want to try it, so here goes.......

Ingredients you will need:

  1. Japanese Curry Block- 1 package will have 2 blocks typically (use only 1 block).

  2. Yellow Onions- 1 bulb-sliced in 1/4 inch strips.

  3. Garlic- 1 bulb-minced.

  4. Golden Potatoes- 4-5 potatoes- cubed into about an inch cube size (If you can't find golden potatoes don't worry, others will do as well).

  5. Scallions- 1 bunch - chop it like what the picture showed.

  6. Fresh Carrots - 4-5 sticks - chopped like what the picture showed.

  7. Ground Black Pepper - 1/2 tablespoon full.

  8. Salt -I would use this sparingly since the curry cube is already salted.

  9. Meat is optional- You can use any meat you wish but chop it up to small cubes and add into the mix along with step 4 in the
    directions below.

  10. White rice - Botan rice from Japanese market is preferred.(quantity is up to you)

Now for the directions:

  1. Heat up a decent size saute pan (enough to hold all the ingredients that you've cut up).
  2. Add some olive oil (I prefer olive oil but you can use corn or whatever you have on hand) and let it heat up a bit (not too hot).
  3. Add the garlic, scallions and onions into the pan and let it brown a little.
  4. Then add the potatoes and carrots and let it brown a little.
  5. Add enough cold water to cover up all the ingredients and let it boil.
  6. Add the curry cube into the mix and add more water as needed. You want to make sure the curry is totally dissolved into the mix but you don't want to add too much water to where it's runny.
  7. When you got the soup to turn into more gravy like then you are done!
  8. Add enough black pepper and salt to your liking.

Serving Instructions:

  1. Scoop some cooked white rice onto a plate
  2. Scoop some of the freshly cook curry on top of the rice
  3. Eat

Enjoy!

Sweet and delicious curry!

It doesn't seem that hard indeed, I'll try it out if I have time!

no, it's not hard at all. Seriously try it! You won't regret it!

I had some trouble finding the specific curry, but I did it! easy and delicious! thanks for your post!

glad you did it! :-)

Sounds good. Add the meat :)

If I was going to add meat I'd probably stick with chicken or beef...

Perhaps lamb might be tasty tooo :)

could be :-) Although with lamb I prefer it with Indian curry.
