Also here in your Steemit account if you click on your "Wallet" tab you'll be able to tap on "Redeem Rewards" to get Steem in your balance here at Steemit. You can hang on to it then and hopefully the value will rise. You may also trade it for Bitcoin and then cash money if you like.
