Movie vs. reality paradox - The Rio movie parrot EXTINCT. Film vs. realita -papagáj z filmu Rio vyhynutý.
Spomínate si niekto na animák Rio? Príbeh modrého papagája Blu–a, posledného žijúceho samca Ary sivomodrej. Blu žije v malom mestečku so svojou paničkou Lindou, až dokým ich jedného dňa nenavštívi brazílsky ornitológ.
English version
Does anyone remember the Rio movie? The story of the blue parrot Blu, the last surviving male of Spix’s macaw. Blu lives in a small town with his owner Linda, until one day a Brazilian ornithologist pays them a visit. He invites both of them to Rio, where Blu is supposed to meet the last female Spix’s Macaw called Jewel. Blu and Jewel face many adventures together, they have to escape from the smugglers that want to sell them, Blu finally learns to fly and falls in love with Jewel. The whole whole movie, of course, has a great happy ending. Blu and jewel have three blue baby birds and raise them in a jungle.. The specie is saved
What happened in reality is, however, far worse. Deforestration and habitat loss, poaching and black market... This year we listed the Spix’s macaw as extinct in the wild..
By this post I just want to tackle this paradox – we make a movie about rescuing a bird specie, yet in real world we work our asses to make the rescue impossible.
"Human activities are the ultimate drivers of virtually all recent extinctions," Stuart Butchart.
oh that's sad news.. Yes I recently watched that film with my son..! If it had had a more realistic ending it might have left more impressions on the future generations.. Gives kind of a false impression that we are doing great for nature :( Thanks for sharing
