Well, I am not sure, but maybe it can be "The Octopuses from the Second Floor". Family goes on vacation and from the sea came some strange "modeling clay". Kids then create octopuses from it and bring them home.
It is popular film from 1980s. It is on TV every Christmas and other holidays in the Czech republic :)

Is that it?
