Na Montecassino

Dnes jsme navštívili nejstarší klášter benediktinů na světě, Montecassino.
Byl založen roku 529 sv. Benediktem z Nursie v nadmořské výšce 520 m.

Cestou ke klášteru - Středověká pevnost Rocca Janula

Autobus se pěkně zapotil. Jsme nahoře. U brány kláštera.

Budova konventu. Přístupná je bazilika, cely mnichů pochopitelně nikoli, stále je užívají ;-)

Celý klášter byl zcela zničen bombardováním v roce 1944. Po válce byl znovu od základů vystavěn za pouhých deset let...
