Pudiera decirse que nuestro amado país de Chile se encuentra ubicado geográficamente en una zona privilegiada, por donde quiera que se le mire, pues la naturaleza nos ha premiado con una diversidad geográfica excepcional, pues contamos con un hermoso océano, tenemos el ardiente y espacioso desierto, que no es problema para hacer turismo de aventura, acampar o tomar las más increíbles fotos.Las montañas nos regalan además de hermosos paisajes, la gala de las nieves y la altura, en fin somos bendecidos con las bondades de la naturaleza.

Y por si fuera poco, nos regala fenómenos extraordinarios, difíciles de apreciar en cualquier lugar de nuestra América. Como lo es, un fenómeno proveniente de la misma vía láctea, como lo es, La Aurora Polar, o las Auroras Australes, producto de la actividad solar, cuando en el núcleo y en epicentro del astro rey, se producen Llamaradas solares, que son gigantescas explosiones de radiación solar, despidiendo hacia afuera grandes masas de protones, electrones y ondas de radiación con una enorme carga de energía solar, o radiación electromagnética.El campo magnético de nuestro planeta bloquea esas ondas radioactivas, pero muchas de esas partículas atraviesan las capas de la tierra y eclosionan con los gases de la tierra, cerca de las zonas polares manifestándose en forma de aurora en un espectáculo de luces y ondas de variados colores y tonalidades.

Existen personas que aseguran que desde Punta Arenas se pueden apreciar un poco las auroras australes, pero desde La Atlántida Chilena, si se pueden apreciar mejor, sobre todo desde La Base Glaciar Union.

There are people who say that from Punta Arenas you can appreciate the southern auroras a bit, but from The Chilean Atlantis, if you can see them better, especially from The Union Glacier Base.
